Great piece, Aurora! ‘Instead, we should approach it as exploring the world together.’ Exactly! It’s such an important lesson here, thanks for sharing your experiences! Can’t wait to read more from you!
I loved this reframe, Aurora! Great timing for me to read it too, as I'm navigating making a decision on having or not having kids. Thank you for sharing!
Appreciate it, Lavinia! Obviously it's a lot of work, but with the attitude that I mention, in my experience, you'll be able to keep most of your 'former' identity and bridge it nicely and naturally with the new. We're honestly taking one day at a time and it's been working well for us. Happy to chat offline about this too.
I love the way you think about this Aurora. We've made a point of taking our kids hiking, cycling, and with lots of family dinners. It's kind of the norm here in Bozeman. Our kids used to love climbing, but we do less of that now. I'd also add camping. You can start them camping earlier than you think.
PS, I love the surfing picture. Couldn't get my kids to try with me, but surfing is the one thing I miss about CA
Thank you, Latham! I should have included camping. You are right! Only challenge I have is that my husband hates it 😅 Maybe I should go camping with them myself..
I knew there was another reason I liked your work, Aurora!
I totally buy into your parenting philosophy. We climbed the Himalayas and had sherpas carry our 4,6 yr olds, while our 8-yr old carried himself and we carried backpacks. An older lady walked by and said "I wish I'd thought to do these things WITH my kids - now they are older they cant get long enough vacations to enjoy these experiences with me"
Love, love, love the way this came together, Aurora! You have such an admirable and captivating outlook on life and parenting, and your children are very lucky to have you! Thank you for sharing your suggestions and inspiring me to do something different with my kids this weekend. Can't wait to read more!

Really appreciate it, Kelly! Thank you :)

Really appreciate your honesty on this and acknowledging the hard parts, too. Yes, I'd love to grab a virtual coffee at some point!
I especially appreciate all the helpful bike info!

Wow, Karena! That's next level! Such a an amazing experience. I'm jealous! Maybe we'll do something like that too. Have you written about it?
Love it, Aurora! This reminds me a lot of the approach to Montessori, making kids part of our lives, giving them
responsibility and meaning instead of seeing them as little people that need entertainment!
Will make sure to revisit your suggestions with our son! ♥️
Thank you, Christian! That definitely resonates. Let me know what activities you pursue!

Thank you for being a big part of that, Erin! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures <3
